Запрошує студентів ІІІ-ІV курсів економічного факультету відвідати низку презентацій з курсу “Business English”, які проводить волонтер Енджела Парсонс (Ryan Research International Centre California, USA) упродовж І-ІІ триместрах 2012-2013 н.р.
№ 1: Career Choices. Discussing different types of careers, and identifying different business options and layouts such as: entrepreneurships, corporations, small business, etc. Also included in this is self-appraisal tests which identify a person’s weaknesses and strengths and how they are applied in the business environment.
№ 2: “Looking for a job”. Where we look to find about available jobs and what we look for in job advertisements. Such things as: salary, or wage, hours, qualifications, benefits and so on. Story activity to reinforce the target words.
№ 3: Analyzing a CV. How to decide if a person is a candidate for a job. We’ll discuss what information goes on a CV. How to present qualifications on a CV. Students will construct CVs and give reasons why they chose certain qualifications to put on each CV. How to do a personal profile of a person based on the CV before meeting them. This topic includes a game activity to reinforce the connection between education and job prospective.
№ 4: How to conduct a Job interview. How to introduce yourself and how to ask questions in a job interview. Discuss what appropriate questions are and how to answer inappropriate questions. This will include a short video or podcast, also role play of a job interview.
№ 5: Working on the Phone. How to take messages and report them to others. How to set up a meeting. Emphasis will be on reported speech, times and numbers. How to deal with accounts receivable and accounts payable over the phone. Story activity on time.
№ 6: Working on the Phone – sales and complaints. Telemarketing. How to handle complaints on the phone, work with customer service, and how to do technical assistance either through computer or on the phone.
№ 7: Sales and Marketing. How to do a decide the feasibility of a product… customer needs and wants. Once a product has been decided on, how to design it and present it to the company. How to make a sales pitch for it.
№ 8: How to present reports and budgets in a mtg. Discuss different kinds of charts and how to explain these charts in a business meeting setting. May cover agreeing / disagreeing in this topic.
№ 9: Problems in the work place. Discuss different problems that arise, sources of support, how to deal with international problems. How to discuss a person from work.
№ 10: The effects of environmental issues in the business world. How to act as a consultant to a company in finding environmental problems, addressing them, presenting solutions to the company and the public.
