Ostroh academy is the leader of THE Impact Rankings 2021 in Ukraine

April 21, 2021

On April 21, 2021, the British Times Higher Education published a ranking assessing the impact of universities on social and economic development (Impact Rankings 2021) for the third time. The university's impact ranking demonstrates how the higher education sector around the world is working towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The third edition of this ranking comprises of 1115 universities from 94 countries (while in 2020 it comprised of 768 universities from 85 countries).

The results of this ranking once again confirmed that the Ostroh academy provides a high level of educational services to its students not only at the level of Ukraine, but also at the world level. They also demonstrate the contribution of our staff and students to the provision of quality education, gender equality, peace, justice and strong institutions, the creation of decent working conditions and economic growth, as well as the achievement of other SDGs.

According to the results of Impact Rankings 2021, the National University of Ostroh academy again entered the group 401-600. Of the 15 Ukrainian universities represented in this year's ranking, the Ostroh academy took first place, sharing it with the Lviv Polytechnic National University, significantly improving its position compared to the previous year.

In terms of the quality of education (SDG 4), Ostroh academy took the first place among Ukrainian universities and entered the group 101-200, which once again confirms the quality of education in our alma mater not only at the level of Ukraine but also worldwide.

In particular, according to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), the NUOA entered the group 101-200 of world universities in the ranking and took first place, overtaking the rest of Ukrainian universities.

According to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), Ostroh academy also tops the list of Ukrainian universities, joining the group of 301- 400 world universities.

According to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), the NUOA took second place among Ukrainian universities and entered the group of 301-400 universities around the world.

According to the Sustainable Development Goal 8, which promotes sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, our university ranks 4th among the HEIs of Ukraine and is included in the group 401-600.

"This recognition is a testament to the important role of higher education institution in raising education and enhancing influence at both the local and global levels,"

said Eduard Balashov, Rector's Assistant for International Relations and Fundraising.

Congratulations to the entire staff of Ostroh Academy on a new achievement!

For information: Times Higher Education Data and Analytics Director Duncan Ross notes that the methodology of this ranking has hardly changed in 2021, but the wording of the questions has been simplified to improve the consistency between the various metrics. Impact Rankings 2021 also pays close attention to research on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and evaluates the work of Higher Education Institutions to provide quality education, health and well-being, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, innovation, and achievement of other SDGs.
