Wiesław Mazur Visited Ostroh Academy

October 06, 2017

On October 5, the consul general of the Republic of Poland Wiesław Mazur visited the National University of Ostroh Academy. Mr Mazur has been holding the position since April 2017.

The Rector of Ostroh Academy Ihor Pasichnyk introduced the traditions and culture of the university to the guest. The consul general also held a meeting with the students of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages at which they could discuss the opportunities for cooperation with Poland. In fact, a lot of exchange problems allow Ukrainian students to study and do their internship in the neighboring country.

‘It is my first time in Ostroh Academy, but it was love at first sight. I think, I will come back here more than once. We would be very pleased to cooperate with the faculty and students of this university. In our country we will facilitate our greater partnership and organization of educational events aimed at giving young people from Ukraine more opportunities,’

said Wiesław Mazur.

The Rector Ihor Pasichnyk emphasized that the Library of Ostroh Academy is regularly supplied with necessary resources for learning Polish language and culture. Moreover, he shared his plan of joint Ukrainian-Polish project to publish the anthology The Ukrainians and the Poles: A Millennium-Long History of Co-Existence.

‘Personally, it was interesting for me to learn about publishing an anthology about long-lasting cooperation of two nations: The Ukrainians and the Poles, as a lot of historical sources show only hostility. However, there are a lot of positive moments in the history of both states. As the students who study Polish, we will benefit from such information a lot,’

said a student of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages Daryna Tsaruk.
