The National University of Ostroh Academy is the successor of Ostroh Slavic, Greek and Latin Academy, the first higher educational establishment of the Eastern Slavs.


The National University of Ostroh Academy receive the status of autonomous research national higher educational establishment.


Ostroh Academy University library which provides the resources for research and educational purposes, the access to the electronic catalogue of the library and foreign library networks.

Teaching and research in the National University of Ostroh Academy is organised by Faculties. There are five Faculties and I. Malynovskyi Institute of Law offering sixteen prestigious specialities.

Dictionary Day at Ostroh Academy

October 31, 2012

On 30 October, Dictionary Day was celebrated as part of the English Speaking Club on the initiative of Master students of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Languages and LEXILAB manager Lesia Kotsiuk. This tradition was borrowed from the United States of America to commemorate Noah Webster, father of the American dictionary.

As part of the celebration, the students prepared numerous intellectual tasks.

Taras Bereza, a philologist and compiler of many English-Ukrainian dictionaries, was the honorary guest of the celebration. He presented his Modern English-Ukrainian Dictionary of the Living Language, the latest novelty of the LEXILAB Lexicographical Laboratory.
