The winner of the contest Halshka of the Year – 2008, which took place as a part of the celebrations dedicated to the Days of Ostroh Academy National University, showed her beauty, intelligence and talents.

A representative of the College of Romance and Germanic Languages, Olena Androsova, was conferred the title of Halska-2008. Traditionally, six contestants, representatives of the colleges of OANU, demonstrated their skills and talents thus winning nominations as a result of the decision of the jury. The other contestant, Olena Lischuk, received the biggest support of the audience.

According to the jury, Olena Androsova succeeded in demonstrating her talents (dancing, singing, photography) and successfully combined them with spiritual aristocratism and inner sensation of the epoch of Princess Halshka.

This contest is dedicated to the promoter of Ostroh Academy, Halska Elzhbeta Ostrozka, who was considered the most beautiful and richest princess of Rzeczpospolita in the 16th century. Despite her unhappy personal fate, Princess Halshka made a great contribution to the development of Ostroh Academy and, accordingly, to the development of higher education in the Eastern Europe.
