According to the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025, the National University of Ostroh Academy ranked 3rd among 33 Ukrainian higher educational institutions represented in this year’s ranking and placed 484th globally out of 1,754 universities from 105 countries worldwide.
UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is one of the most authoritative global university rankings in the field of sustainable development, compiled annually since 2010. The ranking evaluates universities across six core criteria: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water management, transportation, as well as environmental education and research.
In particular, Ostroh Academy ranked first in Ukraine in the category «Energy and Climate Change», outperforming all other Ukrainian universities. In the categories of «Transportation Sustainability», «Setting and Infrastructure», and «Waste Management», the university achieved second place among Ukrainian higher educational institutions.
Thus, by entering the top 500 universities worldwide and securing a position among the top three universities in Ukraine, Ostroh Academy continues to demonstrate its strong performance in sustainable development and environmental responsibility. This achievement reflects a systematic and comprehensive approach to integrating sustainability principles into the university’s educational, research, and administrative activities.
The results of UI GreenMetric 2025 confirm that the National University of Ostroh Academy not only provides high-quality education but also fosters environmental awareness, social responsibility, and a culture of sustainability among students and staff. The university’s achievements are the result of the joint efforts of the academic community and demonstrate Ostroh Academy’s contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, including quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, peace, justice, and strong institutions.
