Revived Ostroh Academy turned eighteen
October 04, 2012
Ostroh Academy's birthday is traditionally celebrated within the circle of close friends, partners and all those who were there at the very beginning of the University. On such days it turns into the apiary with 'faculty beehives', 'bees' and a fair.
Among this year's main celebration events were actions My Language Lives!, flash mob 436 Names of Ostroh Academy, Harmoniously in Ukrainian and Open Microphone, which once again reasserted our alma mater's motto: "Modern Education Through Century Long Experience". All these events show how Ostroh Academy loves the Ukrainian language, culture and literature, and is ready to enrich the best Ukrainian traditions. The student celebrations were also attended by Ostroh Academy's honorary guests, vice-rectors and friends.
Rector Ihor Pasichnyk extended his congratulations on the occasion of the 436th anniversary of the first higher education establishment in Eastern Europe and the 18 birthday of the revived Ostroh Academy to the employees and students.
The celebrations continued with a real Ukrainian fair featuring fun games and amusements, national meals, etc. Everybody had an opportunity to help an infirm child by participating in a photo session fundraiser with dressed up Prince Vasyl-Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi and Princess Halshka Ostrozka.
Ostroh Academy Student Brotherhood and Culture and Arts Centre determined the winner of the contest for the best, most colourful and original Bee of the Apiary.
The holiday cake treat concluded the fair.
