Students Won Personal Scholarships

January 28, 2009

Students of Ostoh Academy National University won personal scholarships of the Fund of Former Rivne Gymnasia Students and Mykhailo and Dariia Kovalski scholarship.

Ostroh Academy has been cooperating with the Fund of Former Rivne Gymnasia Students and its founder Oleksandr Mykhailiuk for more than a year. On the initiative of Mr. Mykhaliuk 60 students of the Academy get personal scholarships every year. The candidates have to meet certain requirements. They have to be born in Volyn or be descendants of Ukrainian Insurrectional Army soldiers, have remarkable achievements in studies and be active in life and social work.

Though cooperation with Oleksandr Mykhailiuk has become a good tradition, the scholarships of Mykhailo and Daria Kovalski on the other hand appeared to be very untraditional. First year students studying social science, psychology and pedagogics, history, law and fifth and sixth year students studying democratic processes and methods were eligible for the scholarships.

This year 18 students became the winners of Mykhailo and Daria Kovalski scholarships. “We should pay tribute to people who find money for gifted students from their limited funds. Your scholarships are money from the salaries of Ukrainians in Diaspora, and these are not millionaires who help you. Such desire proves that people care for charity and it is a good example to follow for young people who just become independent in life”, addressed the students Vice-Rector of Ostoh Academy Petro Kraliuk.
