Ostroh Academy Receives Certificates of Appreciation from "The UK-Ukraine Twinning Initiative"

July 11, 2025

In celebration of the third anniversary of productive collaboration, the British-Ukrainian university initiative partnership programme, known as The UK–Ukraine Twinning Initiative, awarded a certificate of appreciation to the National University of Ostroh Academy. Additionally, personal letters of thanks were presented to Eduard Balashov, the rector of the NaUOA; Maksym Karpovets, the director of the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Management; and Oksana Mararenko, the Head of the International Relations Department.

“We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Ostroh Academy, your leadership, and every member of your academic community. Your strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence in times of incredible challenges have been truly inspiring. The way your university continues to lead, innovate, and collaborate is simply extraordinary. With sincere admiration and respect, we present you with a certificate of appreciation in honour of three years of partnership that has inspired and motivated us every step. We sincerely believe that the best is yet to come and are confident that the transformation of Ukraine’s higher education system will create new opportunities for progress. Together, we can help shape a stronger and more resilient future,”

remarked partners of the programme "The UK-Ukraine Twinning Initiative".

On behalf of the entire academic community at Ostroh Academy, Maksym Karpovets expressed heartfelt thanks to Twinning Ukraine, Cormack Consultancy Group, partners from the University of St. Andrews, and the team at the NaUOA.

"Without the support of so many individuals and institutions, it would have been difficult to implement our grant initiative and carry out several key activities to support and develop higher education in Ukraine. Therefore, this certificate attests to the coordinated and systematic work at our university, which is ready to continue developing in line with the best international standards. For our part, we continue to collaborate with our colleagues at the University of St. Andrews on future projects, which is clear evidence that the main purpose of the programme "The UK-Ukraine Twinning Initiative" — to establish strategic partnerships between Ukrainian and global universities — has been successfully achieved,"

expressed Maksym Karpovets.

Over the past three years, despite the challenges posed by war, the UK-Ukraine Twinning Initiative has had a significant and lasting impact across the entire higher education sector in Ukraine.

The initiative published a report documenting how a private response project to the urgent needs of Ukrainian universities evolved into a comprehensive system-level support mechanism. This report stands as strong evidence of the resilience, determination, and active role of Ukrainian universities in unprecedented times of crisis. It highlights the specific contributions of Ostroh Academy.
