During his meeting with the students, lecturers and professors Mykola Tomenko delivered an open lecture titled Mykola Hohol, the Historian of Ukraine dedicated to Hohol’s 200th anniversary of birth. According to Mykola Tomenko, information-educational project Hohol and Ukraine was initiated by charity foundation “Fair Ukraine” this year in March. The aim of the project is to study Mykola Hohol’s works about Ukrainian culture and history. For this purpose, the foundation had run a social advertising campaign; the advertising was located in 7 cities of Ukraine, which are connected with Mykola Hohol’s life and work, particularly in Kyiv, Poltava, Nizhyn, Zaporizhia. At the same time, according to Mr Vice-Chairman, not all budget programmes which were planned for the anniversary were realized by the state because of the financial crisis.

The presentation of the CD titled Live voices. Classic Ukrainian literature took place during the meeting. This CD was also initiated by Mykola Tomenko. Last year it was presented for the first time on the Independence Day. Historical records of poets reading their own poetry are recorded on it. It was possible to find these records in private collections of Pavlo Tychyna, Maksym Rylskyi, Volodymyr Sosiura, Mykola Vinhranovskyi, Vasyl Stus and in the stock of the National Radio of Ukraine.
The students had a possibility to ask questions directly connected with the topic of the meeting and with the present political situation in Ukraine.
