Student Self-Government Discussed In the Academy

November 14, 2008

On 13 November 2008 the regional student forum titled The Role of Student Self-Government Bodies  In the Development of the Region took place in Ostroh Academy National University. The representatives of the regional bodies of education, in particular Ivan Vietrov, the Head of the Board of Education and Science of Rivne Region State Administration, Olha Kraichuk, the Head of the Regional Student Council, Alla Dubrovyk, the Head of Student Brotherhood of Ostroh Academy National University, and Professor Ihor Pasichnyk delivered a speech of welcome and took part in the event.

The problems of student self-government bodies in Ukraine, their cooperation with the administrations of higher educational establishments and regional educational bodies, and the problem of students’ active position were discussed.

The fact that the forum took place in Ostroh Academy is not surprising as this educational establishment is a successor of the educational traditions founded in the 16th century. That time was already marked by the work of a student brotherhood aimed at the creation of student body prestige .
“We have people to fight with, together but not against”, stated Alla Dubrovyk
