Nowadays, the following creative groups function in the CAC:

  • folk amateur chorus;
  • folk amateur theatrical group Katarsys;
  • violinists orchestra;
  • singing soloists, duets, trios;
  • students theatre of popular miniatures (STPM);

Student folk amateur chorus

In 1996, thanks to the support of the college management and the students’ enthusiasm, the idea to create a students singing group became a reality.

In May that year, the chorus made their first debut followed by a great number of contests, festivals, and performances. In 1997 and 1998 the chorus, then directed by Natalia Kibita, took part in the international festival Surmy (Rivne) successfully competing with famous choruses from Russia, Poland, and Byelorussia.

In 1999, the chorus took part in the first international festival of the student choruses, which took place in Vilnius, Lithuania.

In 2002, the chorus achieved an award of the Participants of the Chorus Music Festival ‘Dream’ in Lviv.

In 2003, the collaboration with the chorus of Bilostotsk University was established, and the exchange program was initiated there.

Every March 27 Ostroh Academy is plunged into the atmosphere of theatrical marvel: the students’ folk amateur theatrical collective Katarsys pleases everyone with a premiere. At the end of the theatrical weak, the grand ceremony The Presentation of the Theatrical Mask takes place. The repertoire of the theatre is various and includes Ukrainian and foreign classics, plays by modern authors and even students'. The style of performance is unique and always contains fresh interpretations of producers .

The theatre successfully toured in the towns of Rivne and Khmelnytskyi regions, in Lviv, Warsaw and Gdansk. In 1999 the collective was conferred the rank of the National Amateur Collective of Trade Union of Ukraine.

A number of skiffle groups operate within the network of the Culture and Art Centre. They initiated youth subculture festival The Others in Ostroh Academy. There the students have the possibility to show their best in the four competition blocks, such as:

  • works of art;
  • poetics;
  • bardic songs;
  • skiffle groups.

The section of the oriental dancing has been in Ostroh Academy since 2004. Yet those who have visited it, have a sensation of a peculiar synthesis of the two great cultures the Slavic and Oriental.
