Canadian Studies Centre at Ostroh Academy National University in cooperation with the Canadian Consulate (Lviv, Ukraine) and the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine is pleased to announce the “Canadian Studies Symposium”, to be held from 25 to 26 February 2011 at Ostroh Academy National University
(2 Seminarska St., Ostroh, Rivne Region, Ukraine).
The Symposium on Canadian Studies is aimed at bringing together renowned academics, young researchers and scholars who have interest in understanding various aspects of Canadian Studies and Canadian-Ukrainian relations. The key issues to be addressed include: Canada-Ukraine relations since Ukraine’s independence, research on Canada’s history, political science, culture, language and literature, domestic and foreign policy, etc. The round table discussion will focus at Canadian Studies in Ukraine (Chernivtsi National University, Ostroh Academy National University, Kyiv Mohyla Academy, Uzhhorod National University and others).
Ostroh Academy National University has a more than a decade long relationship with Canada through Canada-World-Youth program exchanges. The University has a strong academic and research potential of abovementioned subjects which will be shared with interested parties in Ukraine. We believe this Symposium will unite Canadianists in Ukraine and will continue a process of sharing knowledge and set-up the network within Ukraine and beyond started at Chernivtsi-2010 Conference on Canadian Studies.
Selected papers from the symposium will be published in Collected Works of Shevchenko Scientific Society (Edmonton – Ostroh 2011).
