A new record of Ostroh Academy
The National University of Ostroh Academy has been listed in the Ukraine's Book of Records for the second time. As part of the Day of the University celebrations, Ostroh Academy students, teaching staff and guests organised Taras Shevchenko Poetic Marathon: 2,100 participants were reciting the Great Kobzar's poetry. Oleksandr Shusteruk, Rivne region representative of the National Project The Ukrainian Book of Records, has documented the record of Ukraine in the Mass Events category and awarded a diploma certifying the achievement to serve as proof of recognition.
"Ostroh is famous for its records. Do you remember honouring the Ukrainian song and its history recently? Today both your creativity and patriotism reflect in another project", said Oleksandr Shusteruk.
It should be mentioned that this vast action was dedicated to the Taras Shevchenko's bicentennial. The students of all Ostroh Academy faculties continued the poetic marathon with a symbolic dance performance during which they did a "living" portrait of the Ukrainian genius on the sports ground.
"Every year our students perform activities of the national importance. Today's action can be considered international owing to the participants of the Canada World Youth exchange programme, who came from different parts of Canada", said Ihor Pasichnyk, Rector of Ostroh Academy. "Hopefully, our poetic marathon will initiate a unique wave of such mass recitations of Taras Shevchenko's poems all around Ukraine".
Dr. Pasichnyk also shared Ostroh Academy's plans for the future: next year they hope to get listed in the Guinness World Record book.
