The National University of Ostroh Academy is the successor of Ostroh Slavic, Greek and Latin Academy, the first higher educational establishment of the Eastern Slavs.


The National University of Ostrog Academy cooperates with foreign educational and scientific institutions, scientists, representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora.

The National University of Ostroh Academy receive the status of autonomous research national higher educational establishment.


Ostroh Academy University library which provides the resources for research and educational purposes, the access to the electronic catalogue of the library and foreign library networks.

Teaching and research in the National University of Ostroh Academy is organised by Faculties. There are five Faculties and I. Malynovskyi Institute of Law offering sixteen prestigious specialities.


Ostroh Academy abounds with the projects which welcome the students willing to actively participate, reveal their creative potential and realize their selves.

General Information

The Faculty was established on April, 8, 2005 in accordance with Rector's order

It provides educational training within the following special fields: Political Science, Psychology, Documentation and Information. There are three departments facilitating training within these fields.

Upon obtaining their Bachelors degree, the students with remarkable achievements in research work may choose to continue their education toward a Masters degree in psychology and documentation and Information. Many Faculty graduates continue their education abroad.

To bring theoretical training closer to practical needs, all special fields can be applied in a specially created division where the students gain practical skills and knowledge. Among those are Practical workshop in psychology, School of political analysis Polis, Information process study group DID, etc.

One of the most active units of the Faculty is the Institute of Social Research that conducts public opinion researches and prepares different analytical reports for Ostroh Academy as well as for numerous government and private entities.

Our Faculty students have been among the founders and most active members of Ostroh Club for Free Intellectual Communication of Youth. Its activity is held under the patronage of Larysa Ivshyna, Chief Editor of all-Ukrainian newspaper The Day. The club consolidates the students of the National Univesity of Ostroh Academy, the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Odesa National University named after I. I. Mechnykov, Karazin Kharkiv National University, Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and others.

It has become a tradition to carry out such educational and entertaining actions as Festival of Advertising, Contest of Speech Craft, Brain Ring, Young Psychologist Consultancy, Charity action Give Children a Smile.

Each spring, the celebrations of the Week of the Faculty feature a complex of scientific, educational, and cultural events.

One of the Faculty's 'zests' is active participation and numerous victories of students in sport competitions: football, table tennis, volleyball, chess, annual student games, etc. Promotion of healthy lifestyle and patriotism have become the priorities of our education process.

As regards teaching and education, the Student Council of the Faculty (currently headed by Nataliia Kuryliuk) has always been helpful in organising different activities. The Council consists of the most active students and takes part in activities encouraging the students' life interests and studies.

The Faculty is especially proud of the scientific and educational achievements of its students. Our students regularly win scholarships of various funds and programmes. Among them are: Davydiuk Mariana (scholarship holder of Charity foundation Zavtra-UA), Olena Dunai (scholarship of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine), Taras Dovhaliuk (grant of the Head of Rivne State Regional Administration), Kateryna Todorenko (scholarship of the Charity foundation Presidential Foundation of Leonid Kuchma “Ukraine”), Taras Kushniruk (academic scholarship of President of Ukraine).

Faculty Resources

The Faculty is equipped with the resource centre providing teaching and scientific literature, professional periodicals. The library of the Centre is replenished by copies presented by the lecturers and students. One may also watch thematic films connected with the special fields of the Faculty. Department of Political Science has its teaching methods office and the school of political analysis. Department of Documentation and Information has created virtual academic library to make necessary resources available to anyone. Department of Psychology and Pedagogics has arranged a training room and practical workshop in psychology. Also, the Institute of Social Research has been created at the faculty.


Today, the Faculty actively cooperates with many Ukrainian universities. Namely, Departments of Psychology of Rivne State Humanitarian University and Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University; Department of Social Work of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Department of Political Science has enlisted cooperation with the Departments of Political Science of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Institute of Social Science of Odesa National University named after I. I. Mechnykov, Faculties of Social Studies of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, National Academy of Public Administration (Lviv branch) and Donetsk National University.

A cooperation agreement was concluded with the Polish Association of Pedagogues and Animators KLANZA.
