The National University of Ostroh Academy is the successor of Ostroh Slavic, Greek and Latin Academy, the first higher educational establishment of the Eastern Slavs.

General Information and Academic Programs

The Faculty was established on April 8, 2005 by the order of the Rector of the National University of Ostroh Academy and is the youngest faculty of the University.

Mission of the Faculty

to form highly educated, nationally conscious and responsible leaders of social change, able to encourage a personal and professional potential capacity and showing comprehensive expertise in psychology, political science and management of social cultural activities.

Vision of the Faculty

to create an interdisciplinary educational and research environment based on the consistent socio-political, socio-psychological and sociocultural knowledge allowing the alumni to work in the related professions, such as an analyst, a professional consultant, a project manager, a program manager, a scientist, an educator and a coach.

The Department of Psychology and Pedagogics established a new journal Psychology: New Dimensions in 2016.

Academic conferences

The Annual Interdisciplinary Applied Research Conference of Students and Young Scientists on Actual Questions of Social and Political Sciences.

The Annual All-Ukrainian Applied Research Conference of Students and Young Scientists on New Information Environment and the Tendencies of Alternative Development of Media in Ukraine.

The Annual Applied Research Conference on Library Services in Modern Information and Communication Processes: Trends and Prospects.

The Annual International Festival of Social Advertising was launched in 2007.

The Annual International Academic Conference on Legal and Social Aspects of Cooperation between the EU and Eastern Partnership Countries. The Processes of Democratization of the State and the Problem of Corruption.

International cooperation:

Joint educational programs giving the possibility of obtaining a double-degree diploma are functioning at the Faculty.
Since 2013, Department of Political Science, together with Szymon Szymonowic State School of Higher Education (the city of Zamość, the Republic of Poland) and Higher School of International Relations and Public Communication (the city of Chełm, the Republic of Poland) have launched a joint educational program with the issuance of Bachelor’s double-degree diplomas in Political Science.

Since 2014, Department of Political Science has launched a joint educational program "Oriental Studies" with the issuance of Master’s double-degree diplomas in Political Science of the National University of Ostroh Academy and of the University of Warsaw.

Within the frames of the European program Erasmus +, the academic and student mobility takes place with the following universities: The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin,The University of Silesia in Katowice,The Jacob of Paradyż University of Applied Sciences in Gorzów Wielkopolski,Masaryk University in the city of Brno. 

Students of the specialties of Political Science, Psychology and Records and Information Management have the opportunity to study at one of the above-mentioned universities for one semester.

Annually, joint Polish-Ukrainian round-table discussions/student debates are held together with the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (speciality of Psychology) and Szymon Szymonowic State School of Higher Education (speciality of Political Science).
An agreement on cooperation between the Faculty and the Polish Association of Teachers and Animators Klanza has been signed.

Active assistance to the Dean’s Office and the Departments in managing the educational process is lent by the student self-governance board Student Council of the Faculty of Political Studies and Information Management.
The students of the Faculty are among the founders and the most active members of Ostroh Club of Free Intellectual Communication of Youth. Its activities are patronaged by Larysa Ivshyna, Chief Editor of the all-Ukrainian newspaper The Day.
